Di Donato Guitars Bottega is the Italian name for workshop. It represents a place where things are made moving hands and brains. In the bottega guitars are crafted listening to the materials, feeling them and understanding how they interact. The idea is to use each material not bending to preconceptions but exploiting shapes and properties to achieve happiness. Di Donato Guitars was established many years ago as a workshop of bowed instruments near Venice, Italy. Great passion for legendary Guitarists and the stifling rigidity in following the “Ancient Mith” of classical lutherie, brought the concept of new instruments free of every restriction without any limitation of shapes and materials, coupling wood with aluminum, which is already used for its tonal properties. Every single guitar is one of a kind in which every part fits with others, from pickups to knobs and is crafted to answer to the personal desires and needs of each guitarist. The concept I always loved the process of dissecting, almost “chewing” things to better understand how they work and try to put them again together for the best result. From many points of view it is what children do… The concept behind this guitar is to have a stiff […]

RMacoustics. Handcrafted pickups, microphones & preamplifiers for acoustic instruments. In a few words: A band of friends and colleagues. Each one with his own talents, but sharing the same passion. Music. All of them, talented musicians and demanding performers, aware of their “on stage” needs and sound engineering problems, having a vast experience in existing sound pickup solutions and completely – or even partially – unsatisfied by the already existing pickup technology. (…) So, the story began as a need. A need for a transparent, clean, amplified, “on stage” sound. A sound that would resemble accurately and be easily comparable to a microphone sound, but without the microphone’s inherent problems. A pickup system, capable to adjust in every particular “on stage” circumstance and need, bringing only the best in sound clarity and response. Someone pointed out the idea, someone inspired the realization of a dream to come true and of course there is the other one that is skilled enough to the art to handle such a challenge. The first attempt triggered the beginning of an obsession, followed by experiments, innovative concepts, consistent research, extensive laboratory tests, recordings, side by side “on stage” tests, until the final result: The RMacoustics pickup systems […]

Anderwood Guitars – Handmade and hand-crafted acoustic lap steel guitars The Anderwood Weissenborn Company is a UK-based family run business that specialises in handmade and hand-crafted acoustic lap steel guitars. With over 60 years of luthiering among our small team, and building on Anderwood’s long history of producing outstanding instruments, dealing directly with our customers to offer fantastic service, and always pricing competitively, we’ve taken on the ultimate challenge and recreated an original Weissenborn c.1927, exact down to the very last detail. Getting to grips and really, truly understanding the originals was a massive task, something that might seem quite simple at first (to make a copy!) but it was not until we started to dissect the old models that the real weight of what we had undertaken hit home. With so many hurdles to overcome, not just in understanding the methods and techniques used in the 1920s, but also sourcing the correct timbers for the period, it took us over 2 years and many, many prototypes before being satisfied we had every detail spot on and really had unlocked the secrets of Hermann Weissenborn and his beautiful guitars. We’re very proud to be hand-making every last detail from scratch in […]

GLB Sound – Amplification Luthiere Why amplification lutherie? GLB Sound is an artisan reality that builds tonewood guitar amplification: it’s a matter of matching the concepts of lutherie and amplification in order to design a new experience of sound. We use tone woods like Sapele, Maple, Walnut and many others, in the same way the finest guitars are built by luthiers. Every wood we use has its own tone, its own personality and it was chosen to achieve a specific sound. This way the role of the cabinet shifts from speaker to instrument, from passive to active element. Our mission is to create the best sound for the most demanding guitarists. This sound, in search of perfection, demands refined heads and cabinets crafted by hand with precious woods and top quality materials. The result is a product that reflects years of experience and knowledge of the world of amplification, an expression of the ‘Made in Italy’ excellence. The importance of a tonewood cabinet An amp in our point of view should amplify the guitar signal without adding or taking away anything. However the history of amplification teaches us that this is not the case. The signal flow starts with an […]
B&G Guitars – Custom Guitars B&G Guitars was founded by Eliran Barashi & Yotam (Kiki) Goldstein – skillful and expert luthiers in the field of vintage guitars from the golden era, and Avi Goldfinger – an artist and entrepreneur. We are devoted to one thing only – creating the best sounding instruments on the market. Our guitars are gimmick free. We create perfectly well-balanced, unique and original instruments that will ignite your passion for the only thing that matters – playing the guitar. The “secret sauce” in our designs is the result of extensive research about what made models from early 20’s to the mid 50’s such timeless classics. In order to create the best sounding guitars, we have one rule : Make everything ourselves. We cast our own brass hardware from a unique alloy that conducts the fullest frequency range, and we even use thick brass pickup covers to isolate the coils instead of pressed tin covers. We wind our own pickups, we mix and blend our paint, nitro lacquer, and glue. For building our guitars we use a hand-picked rare stock of quality tonewoods such as Brazilian Rosewood, Ziricote, Mahogany, and Eastern Maple (some of it is 90 […]
Keller Guitars – Custom hand-built instruments Igor Keller established his own in the year of 1999, but there were others important luthier milestones preceding this event. Since he was thirteen, Mr.Keller fell for guitar making. It all started with one cheap acoustic guitar which was modified into something more modern.Igor and Mr. Turza from Kent Armstrong Many years passed and with gained experience of woodcarving & electronics, he was hired in Neuser guitar company. It was one of the most important steps in his career, where he learned more practical knowledge. Due family problems he decided to quit this job for more lucrative one. In the year 1997 Igor Keller met Mr. Gazdik, who was renown organ maker and restorer, and after short time they made contract and started to work as a qualified help and woodcarving restorer. These were the most important twists in his life before he started his own company. With customer in mind Master Paul started as a budget-friendly company. Although the most of the production were simple and for starters accesible instruments, with gaining recognition he made many exquisite and expensive guitars. As years passes and borders of European Union opened, Mr. Keller felt strong urge […]
Joseph Yanuziello – Stringed Instruments A Toronto native born in 1952, Joseph Yanuziello has spent most of his life living and working in the culturally diverse neigbourhoods of Toronto’s west end. At an early age, inspired by his father’s fearless I can build that attitude, Yanuziello embarked on a lifetime of building and tinkering, focusing on exotic and domestic wood as his material of choice. After graduating from art college in 1975, he built his first guitar in 1979 while working in a custom design/build cabinet shop. That soon led to self employment, building and designing furniture and cabinets for a long list of commercial and residential clients, as well as building custom guitars for a growing list of musicians. Encouraged by the demand for his guitars, Yanuziello pursued instrument building full time. Over the years, he has introduced many unique instrument designs informed by the diversity of his client base, and his love of north american roots music. Yanuziello Stringed Instruments are played by professional and amateur musicians world wide.
